18/06/2009 – iPhone ‘App’ Of The Week : Airline Seat Guide
This week’s iPhone App of the Week is a must for every traveller when selecting their seats. Boarding a plane to find you are stuck in an undesirable seat is never pleasant and being informed can make the seat-selection process easier and enhance your travelling experience.
This week’s iPhone App of the Week is Airline Seat Guide by CXI Gaming.
Airline Seat Guide is an incredibly detailed iPhone App giving flyers access to more than fifty global airlines and more than 300 aircraft configurations. Having matched Airline Seat Guide against other known sources, and my own detailed notes on certain airlines, I have found the iPhone App’s fairly accurate on my airlines and aircraft.
While some airlines are changing over fleets and interior configuration, which can make the seating guides dated fairly quickly, on the whole the information made available by the Airline Seat Guide is an excellent instant resource that is accessible anywhere at any time.
While Seat Guru is often my first choice for seat selection questions, Seat Guru does not currently offer an iPhone App and thus you must be online to access their information. The advantage of CXI Gaming’s Airline Seat Guide App is that the information is always accessible, even if you’re not online.
If I had to change one feature of Airline Seat Guide it would be this…they need to update some content more frequently. An example of this is the App listing ‘Pan Am‘ (Boston-Maine Airways Pan Am, not the former global airline giant known around the world as Pan Am). BMA’s Pan Am ceased operations on the 29th of February 2008 and Airline Seat Guide was released on the 21st of March 2009.
At only US$1.99 Airline Seat Guide is an excellent App for travellers throughout the world.
