17/11/2009 – Airline & Travel Industry Social Media Crisis Communications Webinar
The way information is dispersed has changed rapidly in the past few years. Gone are the days of broadcast & print news media relaying a story to impact public perception.
When a crisis affects the travel & airline industry, stories and information are spread instantly and virally through social and emerging media. What used to be a crisis for the airline & travel industry was generally a plane crash or a terrorist…in the current environment the airline & travel industry operates a crisis can be a broken guitar or a problem with a reservation.
The key to minimizing a crisis, be it a legitimate crisis or one created by the rapid viral nature of emerging media, is to engage, interact and get in front of the incident. If you own the incident you can control the conversation.
On the 13th of January 2010 at 7:30am PST/10:30am EST/4:30pm CET the Innovation Analysis Group will be hosting a 1-hour for the airline & travel industry to learn how to react and engage to crisis situations through emerging & social media.
This emerging & social media crisis communications webinar, while primarily for the travel and airline industry, is for any public relations or corporate communications professional dealing with emerging & social media issues. The Webinar will focus on crisis management and offer insight into what to do and what not to do in these situations.
The first 30 minutes of the webinar will consist of a panel discussion, with three industry experts, the following 30 minutes will free flowing questions & discussions.

– Ron Kuhlmann, formerly of Swissair, who was involved in implementing the airline’s the crisis communications plan following the crash of Swissair Flight 111 in 1998.
