Are You A Laviator? Do You Laviate? Have You Laviated?
Some time in early 2009 the world was introduced to a new term by flight attendant and blogger Heather Poole … the new term was a reference to people who shoot self-portraits of themselves in airplane lavatories. The new term was “Laviator.”
Since the inception of the introduction of the term Laviator I have resisted the trend of shooting portraits in an airplane lavatory. My primary resistance to being a Lavaiator … or Laviating or having Laviated was that I really didn’t want to bring a camera into an airplane lavatory. Seriously … airplane lavatories are germ incubation factories. I generally find myself wiping down the seat twice, and on the way out washing my hands twice, followed by a generous use of Purell to wash my hands after touching the door on the way out.
This in mind however, the other night I looked at the mirrors facing each other on the walls of the lavatory and a photo idea popped into my head … so iPhone in hand, after more than a year of telling Heather Poole that I would not Laviate … I Laviated.
After I shot my photo, I thought of how many people I know who are Laviators, business travelers, mileage runners, flight attendants, pilots, even an airline executive. I thinking of all of these people I was left with this question … Are you a Laviator?
If you have Laviated, drop me an e-mail, I’d like to put up a gallery of some flyers Laviator portraits.
Below is my photo from the other night.

My two #Laviations:
http://twitpic.com/1ecxcp – Bombardier Q300
http://twitpic.com/1f1fvb – ATR 72-500
Lets just say, being that tall, it was very uncomfortable being in there.

A Q300 & ATR-72? WOW! My home airport is only serviced by Dash-8-100s and never use the lav, at 6ft 3in I just can’t get in there!
Happy Flying!
