Win A Seat Next To Randy Petersen … Yes, That Randy!
Do you like travel? Yearn for more time in an airline seat? Enjoy conversing with semi-bald white haired gentlemen who seems to only wear Nike sneakers? Then have I got a contest for you!
Between today, the 1st of October and this coming Sunday, the 7th of October, you’ll have the opportunity to win a seat next to Randy Petersen … the founder of BoardingArea (where Flying With Fish is hosted), FlyerTalk, MilePoint, coiner of the phrase Mileage Run, yadda, yadda, yadda … during the next StarMegaDO (Star Alliance Mega Day Out) this coming November.
One lucky reader of participating BoardingArea blogs will win either an aisle or window seat next to Randy Petersen during the StarMegoDO … Randy will be in the middle seat and attempt to not hog the arm rests. Along with your seat, you’ll win hotel accommodations and US$250 in cash to spend as you wish.
While entrants are limited to one entry per participating blog … you have 30 chances to enter … one entry in each of the 30 participating blog. Scroll through the BoardingArea blog roll in the right hand side of FlyingWithFish to find new blogs to read and keep entering for your chance to win.
So how do you enter?
Answer the following question, and one person will be selected at random (so remember to use your real full name and email address), using Random.org, and that’s it, you’re entered!
The question is … How do you personally engage with your airlines via social media?

Happy Flying!
i haven’t yet
I only really engage, outside of likes, follows, etc, by tweeting or posting on walls when people go above and beyond, whether it’s for good or for not so good reasons.
I follow them on twitter, but no real interaction yet.
Delta is awesome on twitter. @Deltaassist has helped me out BIG TIME a few times when I would otherwise would have wasted time on the phone. They are really the reason I joined twitter. Now I follow comedians and it’s another way for me to waste time. Oh well.
I use Facebook – luckily I haven’t had an issue major enough to need to tweet yet!
I’ve communicated to United through twitter with little luck.
I like seeing other enthusiasts’ content via social media, and sharing my own.
I link up with travel pros, and amateurs, at Twitter, FB and blogs !
I participate in American’s Facebook promotions, and “like” my favorite airlines on Facebook. I’m not a Twitter user, so I don’t really follow them there.
Twitter Primarily, but most of the time it is a one way interaction, especially with United
I don’t really engage the airlines. I fly so little that I have very few problems or good experiences.
Read the updates
Earned quite a few FFM on United by linking accounts with Topguest and MileagePlus.
I’ve tweeted @Unitedairlines a few times and they never responded. Turns out they changed their twitter handle to just @united
Of the airlines I fly regularly, I think HA does the best job with social media!
For me it’s all about Twitter! Lets airlines like Delta earn a few more of my bucks back …
I interact using Facebook frequently…love it. I follow on Twitter a little
I don’t – but I think if I were to, twitter seems to be pretty good for getting things taken care of quickly
Not much, although I just linked my spg to facebook
Haven’t yet. I usually just call them which I find social enough
I’ve engaged a bunch of airlines on Twitter to help myself, family, friends and clients. I generally find them to be incredibly helpful. And they can help cut through red tape. Asked American to recognize my wife when we flew home from our honeymoon. They provided us with Concierge Key service, and had a 6-layer, 9-inch cake that said “Happy Honeymoon!” on it. Totally above and beyond, but wonderful!
Facebook and Twitter, of course!
Facebook
Twitter
I struggle…probably Facebook!
Facebook!!!!
Facebook and follow up with the Airline
Sometimes through Facebook, but I find faster results when using MilePoint or FlyerTalk with airline (and hotel) reps.
So far, I don’t!
Twitter
I follow Delta Air Lines on Facebook.
I engage with airlines via social media by using Facebook.
I don’t actually interact with them on social media. Is it actually helpful for resolving problems?
I havnt engaged with any airlines by social media but I probably would with facebook or twitter
I’m not on Farcebook, so other than the pathetic Twitter account of USAirways, no interaction!
I follow airlines on Twitter and Facebook. Sometimes I’ll post or tweet a comment about what’s going on with them.
Through twitter and facebook, I send @SPG issues that come up from time to time!
Facebook and Twitter. I follow the pages on Facebook and am a member of the FB EXP group which gives input to AA frequently. Any service issue is immediately resolved if you tweet about it.
What an awesome experience ! Pick me!
cant say I really have engaged with any of them socially….then again I mainly tend to fly United, and their presence socially is a bit pathetic.
I connect via their facebook site
Never tried interacting with them socially. But based on the comments above some folks seem to have success, so will try in the future
I’m not traveling as much as I used to, but still occasionally armchair rant and rave via Twitter and Facebook.
I don’t engage via social media. I do read flyertalk, but I don’t follow any airlines on twitter, facebook or any other mediums.
I don’t, although I’ll pick up points for check-ins when I can.
I would use Twitter for interactions via social media.
The JetBlue social media team is quite funny. They usually respond to my tweets promptly, and share the good ones.
I only chat with them via Twitter. Its nice to stay anonymous sometimes. More likely to be honest if you’re not worried about retribution.
I use twitter to tag airlines when I’m traveling or having problems. Have had some neat exchanges with @alaskaair over the years!
I follow a few on facebook or twitter for fares, but haven’t seen anything worth while.
by twitter @deltaassist is great, one of the few things that Delta does well!
